This blog abides by word of mouth marketing standards. We believe in honesty of relationship, opinion and identity. As with any professional media outlet, there is a delicate balance between editorial and advertising. We try as best possible not to let our relationships with sponsors and employers influence our topics or posts.
The Chef and Steward® brand is a s a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Hub™ Ltd., registered in 2007. It is managed by Kari Heron and written as collaboration between Chef Lij Heron and Kari Heron, who are both actively involved in content development. Due to their schedules, Kari maintains much of the social media and interaction with fans across all platforms. When specifically requested, especially in the Ask the Chef section, Chef Lij submits answers himself.
The vast majority of brands, products, props, travels displayed on this blog have been solely funded by the owners of this blog.
Professionally and ethically, we only recommend and feature products and services that we truly endorse.
We have received some brand sponsorship based on our professional and personal interest in their products and services. The products that they have sponsored the blog reflect only those that we truly stand by. Many of those products were introduced to the blog by Chef Lij, who has used them for many years during his tenure in restaurant kitchens all over the world. Some of the products were picked by Kari because of their practicality in everyday home use. The receipt of products for use will never influence the content, topics or posts made in this blog.
We have not accepted forms of cash advertising, paid insertions or other forms of compensation for any product we have recommended or reviewed without explicitly declaring such. We accept payment for sponsored posts/features in order to facilitate funding for the hard work and great investment of resources we put into running the blog and our very intense social media channels.
During the course of working on this blog, Kari has consulted with Tavola and was contracted to them. The contract was eventually mutually terminated with an offer of full time employment as Marketing & PR Manager.
All giveaways have been bought by the owners of the blog, except one giveaway, a knife, that was sponsored (and so announced) .
