When you live in the UAE, one gets bitten by the travel bug pretty often. In fact, every three months my skin starts to itch. It never stops until I hop on a plane. So far this year I have flown to California and Jordan and Jamaica. My planned trip to Washington was cancelled due to that blizzard that decided to pass through that same time I had been booked to travel. But such is the world of the traveler- anything can happen. Being stalled ahead of bad weather is far better than suffering an accident. It takes a kind of relaxed personality to be able to roll with the uncertainty that is travel. As for me, I try to keep my expectations low and breathe.
One way I get a chance to breathe and take in all of my experiences while traveling is through photography. There are some experiences for the eyes only, that you just have to take in and be totally consumed by and others that you have to illustrate and capture best through the eyes of a camera. I shot all these pics on my iPhone 6+ because when traveling with a toddler (alone), you just don’t want to open up the professional camera bag you have lugged around with, assemble the right lens for the shot, and still try to keep an adventurous 2 yo within safe distance. Jaja and I flew first then Chef Lij joined us later in the summer. Here is our experience in images. A photo speaks a thousand words.
Summer vacation in Jamaica
One thing that hits you as soon as you approach the Jamaican coastline in the day time is how green the country is. Sadly though we landed at night but by morning, we were reminded just how green and vegetative the island is. Welcome to Jamaica. Have a nice stay!
