It’s been quite a while since we have hosted a giveaway and we thought we would spice things up around here. As Chef and Steward, we believe that variety is the spice of life and apply this adage to everything we do- the way we approach work, our food philosophy and even our marriage. Sometimes though, when you have many pots on the fire, you need a reminder to check on something in particular. Whether it is a delicate sauce simmering on the stove, a crucial step in a recipe that has a specific time allotted to it, homemade ice cream churning in your ice cream maker, or desserts in the oven, there is one critical factor that can take your kitchen creations from sensationally sublime to utterly disastrous – time.
Time is a gift that we often take for granted and sometimes we get caught up on one task while the clock ticks out of control ruining another. A great cook learns to manage time well over multiple tasks and a great way of doing so is by using timers that help you to focus on the things that need your attention. Who among us does not need a reminder in this chaotic multi-tasking world we live in?
Even though many ovens these days come with timers that alarm when the set time has elapsed, you can never have too many. A portable one is also useful during the times when you have to be somewhere around the home, have multiple items which have different times or in critical need of a nap as mothers with young ones can attest to.
The kitchen timer also symbolizes the fact that with our practical every day dishes, tips, techniques and cooking lessons on this blog, we save you time. We love the kitchen and feel it is important to spend time in it, but we don’t want you to live your entire life in it and neglect all the other areas that are also important to leading well-balanced lives.
If you watch the video below here, you will see the clue as to what we are giving away. It is one of our most used kitchen tools in our Chef and Steward kitchen. Can you guess what it is?
Yes… we are giving you the gift of precious time! This Silit Digital timer comes in a cute hour glass shape but with a totally modern feel and is suitable for both male and female cooks. We love it because it is easy to use and takes the guesswork out of selecting the right time. It comes with a battery which makes it ready-to-use straight out of the box. It is a superb example of German engineering.

I am a recipe hound who blundered happily into your website a while ago searching for ideas to create something for my daughter-in-law. She prefers a style that was alien to me and I wanted to make her feel welcome. Your website has opened my senses to new and exciting ideas to try. Thanks
